BANJO

Banjo, my very special little man and needing a VERY special and experienced home with an owner who has the patience to wait until he trusts them!  Banjo has been with us for the past eleven months.  He was found roaming and impounded in December.  We had the phone call from a very caring Ranger who explained that Banjo was so terribly traumatised that he would allow no one near him.  She explained that if I could not help him, then he would be euthanised.  Of course we agreed to take him in to our care and so began months of gentle handling and care.  Three months before he could be picked up and held!  Once he was out and running with the other dogs we realised both his back knee joints were the worst we have ever seen (not supporting him at all!).  During the next six weeks Banjo had two huge surgeries to repair both his back legs.  He is now able to walk, run, play, stand up etc. on both legs with no problem although occasionally he does favour one or the other leg a little.

Banjo's problem is that he does not trust people.  Trying to push him will result in attack!  He will bite and bite hard.  After six moths of handling he stopped biting me totally and now he just gives me a warning, mouth over my hand but no pressure - almost play like. He is NOT for the feint hearted. He is beautifully toilet trained so much so that when recovering from anaesthetic and first 24 hours home he would not go to toilet until carried outside!

WALNUT

Walnut the little charmer!  He is 7 years old (DOB 02/07/2013) Toilet trained and quiet.  He is a little timid around other dogs and not sure of cats, certainly not suited with young children.

Walnut does suffer from epilepsy and is on medication which does control his seizures.  It is very important that Walnut be given his medication regularly every twelve hours.  This medication does make him very hungry so his food intake must also be monitored so he will not become too overweight.  He currently weighs 3.3 kg and this seems to suit him quite well.  When he gets to know you he is quite playful and does like to go for short walks on harness.  We are seeking someone experienced with epilepsy in dogs.

ROLDY

Roldy is a darling little older man of 12 years (DOB 08/09/2008.  He is in very good health if getting a little deaf.  He weighs in at 3.4 kg. He is toilet trained and quiet.  He does not like other dogs, cats or children, preferring the quiet life now.  He is perfectly happy to sit in bed most of the day and have access to outside garden and grass area for his toilet needs.  He is not happy with balcony type situations!

TINY

Tiny is an older well settled Chihuahua of 11 years (DOB 02/06/09)  When he came in he was very much overweight.  He has trimmed down a little and now weighs 3.75 kg and does need to lose another 1/2 kg. His heart and general health is excellent.  He does have slight patella knees so weight loss is imperative to save these from further deterioration.  He does walk well, if a little slow at this time. He is quiet, toilet trained, and loves a pat from his favourite person.  He is ok with one other Chihuahua except around food - when no one is allowed near the plate!  Not sure of cats and certinly not suitable with young children.
