Chokky is the fourth of the ones to come into care due to her Mummy going into care. The youngest of the four and very overweight (by about 1 kg.!) Little Chookky has travelled all the way to northern New South Wales to her new home. Last reports (Dec 2011) are that she is simply idoloized and has settled very happily! Love you Chokky!!

Toy

Toy has come into care, along with his three mates, due to his Mummy going into a care situation.

He is just gorgeous but scared.

Toy went to new home, however it did not work out, as he just fretted very badly for his playmates! So Toy is now back at the Chihuahua House.
Little Toy has been adopted for the last few months and has settled in really well, and is loved dearly! he is such a happy little fellow!

On the left first days in care - such a sad little face. In middle "not enough room here, Nikki!". Then finally "OK Nikki, there is enough room!" Two photoes on right taken ten days after coming in to care and already looking a lot happier! Bless her.

Kristina is 11 years old and her Mummy had just been taken in to a care hospital and she had been fretting and very sad. She has cheered up a little now (two weeks later) and has started to eat, but craves cuddles and attention.

Kristina has a quite bad heart murmur but appears otherwise to be in good health, although her coat needed some attention. Her skin is still very inflamed from where she was infested with fleas. Flea; worm treatment; and a good bath along with some healthy food, not to mention heaps of cuddles and snuggles! and Kristina is starting to feel a little more settled.

Chihuahua Rescue closure

It has been many years that we have enjoyed doing Chihuahua Rescue, and we wish to thank you for all the support and help you have given to us to achieve the re-homing of so many little needy dogs, also to all those who have given monetary donations to help with the operations that many have needed, and to help with the food costs; to those who have donated food, blankets, bowls, and towels etc.; and last but not least, to those who have donated their time to help out with some of the chores over the years.

With great sadness in our hearts we must retire from rescue work due to ill health and old age catching up to us! Mayer has had several major heart and other surgeries over the last ten years, and Rita has been a type 1 diabetic on insulin for the past 59 years and is now experiencing some of the debilitating symptoms that many diabetics have in a far shorter lifetime on insulin. We are both very grateful to be alive and to have experienced all the love that many little dogs have given us!

We are eternally grateful to Mandy and Kristal who run New Beginnings Rescue for taking over Chihuahua Rescue and for continuing on with this wonderful work, not only for the little dogs, but for all the other animals they give a “new beginning” to!

Susie is a very tiny white smooth coat Chihuahua, of seven years, but extremely frightened. She is eating and coming out of her bed to walk around the yard etc. but if anyone comes over she goes into her bed and keeps VERY quiet! It will take some time for her to accept you. Pip Pip has gone to try out his new home!
A gorgeous looking long coat Chihuahua but so terribly shy and timid, it takes time to get to know him. He is now allowing me to pick him up and pet him. Pip Pip surprised us all when he came out to meet people when they came over to see dogs, and these people were most impressed with him.

This gorgeous (looks and personality!) little boy is now trying out his new home!
One look at this little man and he will melt your heart! He is a Chihuahua crossed with a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. He is just one of those little dogs who is so soft to touch and so loving and free with his kisses and snuggles! He is at your heel every minute of the day.

He is a very small dog of only 4 kg. He will be desexed, microchipped, immunized, flead, and wormed. He has been a very much loved family dog and would suit family with older children.

Pablo is a gorgeous statuescue and playful little Chihuahua. He acts and looks very much younger than his 7 years. He just loves his toys and gets on really well with his little playmates. He had us in stitches when we saw him "toy in mouth; bottom sitting on doggy trampoline with front feet down on floor! He looked just delightful and wanted to "play". Poncho has found his forever new home and has settled in really well and happily.
What a gorgeous gentle giant and just so ready to be loved and cuddled and most of all settled with a new Mum or Dad. Poncho is extremely affectionate and is really quiet; toilet trained; loves his own bed but prefers yours! Not fussed about going for walks, just prefers to putter around his own little yard. Took him to our vet this afternoon and told Jan he is supposed to be a 12 year old. His report is that he is so healthy and his heart so strong he would easily pass for a much younger dog. Good hearing and eye are perfect. He has been heartworm tested, desexed, microchipped, and immunized with C5, and he is toilet trained! He would make a pensioner a perfect lovable little companion. His price is $150. Pensioner offered $100 so Poncho has gone to his home. A phone call from Sydney - small Chihuahua Rescue set up has to find urgent homes for several little dogs. Naturally we said "yes" we will take them. Then sat down to worry and wonder "how on earth will we manage to pay the fares to Melbourne? It is only from these wonderful donations that we are able to do this and meet these unexpected expenses! Thank you all very much. 7.30am 24/3 we were at Cranbourne and met four little angels, all home safely now!

Romeo came in to "rescue" a few weeks ago. He was in shocking condition; dehydrated; flaking skin; starving; riddled with fleas and worms etc. His first two weeks were full on with treatments for all the above, and then he had to face his desexing operation! He came through really well and every day he gets a glossier coat and begins to look better and better! Romeo is toilet trained and requires very little exercise. Romeo is a very tiny little dog weighing in at a whole 2.5 kg.! He went to "try out" a new home with a very elderly lady who discovered she was not able to cope with caring for an animal, and this lady said he is the most wonderfully well behaved little dog. We thought he was a pure Bambi Chihuahua, but it is possible that he could be a Min Pin crossed with a Chihuahua. He is a quiet little guy but would not be suitable for children or other animals - sorry but he is a one on one little mate. His price is $250

Ceasar

CEASAR IS NOW TRYING OUT HIS NEW HOME!
This little guy in in very poor condition at the moment. He is five years old. Further news from Vet trip is that Ceasar has a slow heartbeat, 25/2/11 the good news is that the "slow" heartbeat in a tiny little dog is not unusual and is not necessarily a bad thing - thank goodness. These little ones live a lot longer than normal BECAUSE of the slow heartbeat! Could it be caused by aenemia? - Bad feeding?? - vet says NO. Both Ceasar and his brother, Romeo, have been left outside - and it shows! Both have very dry coats due to "outside" housing and very poor diet. They are the Bambi (or deer) Chihuahua with the long skinny legs.

Their elderly male owner is terminally ill and no family members wanted his dogs, so they are now safe and secure in "rescue" Ceasar is a little shy but approachable and will come up to you for a pat - soon that will be for a good old fashioned "cuddle"!!

We will be placing these little "brothers" in separate homes. When they were handed in the request was made to place them together - as they have spent their whole lives together. However, they do not get along together at all - and constantly fight and snicker at each other! Time for them to become individuals with heaps of love and care.

This morning Ceaser had heaps of cuddles and just loved it! We have started him on a dose of Nutrigell each morning and a Fish Oil capsule, so hopefully this will improve his appetite and coat.

Flash

Flash has been happily rehomed.
What an absolutely wonderful little dog with so much love and affection to give to someone!

Flash - because she runs everywhere - just like a flash! We are looking for someone who is home most of the time and has the patience and loveto give for this little girl, as she just craves company and attention - follows at you heels; lies down and waits patiently while you do the chores etc.

We believe she is a Chihuahua cross Mini Foxie but very small and stocky weighing 3.7 kg.

Flash does have (what we call) a small problem. Poor little girl is stone deaf and cannot hear a word you say. Vet check today 24/2/11 and we believe she has been born with no eardrum in the right ear, but has a defective ear drum in the left ear, hence she does hear really loud sharp sound such as a dog barking very close by. She is in excellent health otherwise and has come through her operation really well. She is totally toilet trained and is really willing to learn - if you can spend the time to get her to understand hand signals. Last night, just twice, I waved my hand "out" at the door and she picked up on that immediately. Flash's price is $250

She has very slight luxating patellas in both knee joints and this may need to have treatment in a few years time, but if her weight is kept under control this should not cause her any problems. Zack is going to fly to Cairns for his new forever home!
Zack is a one year old gorgeous little dog. He snuggles under your chin at every opportunity! Would be very suitable for an active family with one other young playful dog as he loves playing tug o war with the other dogs here. MAY, 2010 all little dogs are now happily back home with their Mum!

On left are the three dogs and a "genuine" Chihuahua in basket at back!

These three little dogs are in our care for a little while. Their Mummy is not well and the floods have washed away their fencing so these three needed somewhere to stay for a short time.

Lola is the Papillon "look alike", and Rudy is the white with brown head. The one in the middle is a good standard sized Chihuahua who is also staying with us for the short term.

Marlena is the black Dachshund cross.

Janey has a new home to go to after her spay operation. Her name is to change to Abby Jane!
Janey is a Chihuahua cross (possibly with a Pom) possibly about 7 - 8 years. She has come from a pound so no information on her yet. She is quite friendly and is in poor condition - needs some good food and loving attention. She is to see the Vet in two weeks so more information then.

She is very quiet and just wants to have some cuddles and gentle time with you.

Janey saw the vet and was given a clean bill of health - very good strong heart and patellas low grade.

2nd March 2011. This afternoon we received a phone call from Trish to tell us that Janey has settled in really well. Trish had bought a lovely snuggly soft blanket and put it in a basket for Janey when the arrived home. Trish tells us that Janey went straight to the bed as soon as they got home, round and round, scratch here and there at the blanket, finally sat down snuggled in the blanket and gave them a look that seemed to say "well this is MY bed!"

She has been spotlessly clean; telling them when she wants to go to the toilet, and through the night she is using a wee pad - so far not one accident. All the family love her and she is being really well behaved with everyone! Greta nes, Trish, and so glad Janey has settled really well!

Vet check was all good. Cee Cee is the most loving and happy little girl; rolls on her back for tummy rubs, and that beautiful tail never stops wagging!

Today we received this heartbreaking email.

It is with much sadness I am writing to inform you that my darling little Pablo died on the 29th of November 2010. It has taken me this long to even string a sentence together to let you know.

He was euthanised after developing a blood clot in his little lung. I have put together a little something which I am hoping you might post on your wonderful website.

Darling Pablo,

You came into my life and stole my heart back in August 2009. It was love at first sight.

I miss you my darling Pablo-doo...you were my little mate, my soul mate and you will never be forgotten.

Fiercely loyal and true, we only had eyes for each other as we did everything together.

Whilst you had no teeth, it didn't stop you guarding your weekly slow cooked roast shank for hours on end...you had an appetite for everything, sweet and savoury.

You were a love sponge, wanting to be near all the time, only food could pull you away.

Gone too soon, I am grief stricken without you...my darling little Pablo-doo, oh how your mummy loved you...

You were my little heart beat and will now remain forever in my heart.

Rest in Peace Pablo, see you in heaven.

The little dogs who are spending Christmas with us (their mummies and daddies having a few days holiday!) were very wary of the pretty paper and goodies!!

Squeak

Squeak will possibly never be available for adoption, as we are very doubtful she will live.

The only reason she is being listed here is to show the public some of the problems the well known registered breeders experience with trying to breed with these little dogs!

So many of the puppies die before they are eight weeks of age - they "fade". Why? No one knows.

This little girl is "fading" and we are trying desperately to keep her alive! Yes she is tiny - just five weeks old and weighs less than 200 grams - what you would erroneously describe as a "teacup". At the moment we are feeding her with an eye dropper every hour to supplement her mummy's milk. We need your prayers for Squeak!

Thank you to everyone who offered prayers and support for little Squeak. Unfortunately, this darling little "fighter" lost her battle at 9.30 am this morning 16th December at age 5 weeks.

Despite the fact she had hydroencyphalitus (sorry about the spelling!) and her lungs were filled with fluid. We thought the antibiotics would help but no. And her little strong heart was not enough to pull her through. Now we are trying to comfort her little mummy who now has to contend with milk fever etc. plus the loss of her little baby. It was interesting to see that little Mummy knew - the last couple of hours she kept trying to sit on little Squeak!

This gorgeous little old lady came in to our care at the end of October 2010 and was seen by a lady who came to see Oscar. Pearly caught at her heart strings and was adopted immediately. After all vet treatments, Pearly went to her new home and has settled in to a home full of love and care. She was in such terrible condition when she came in, but now she is just gorgeous!!

How do you find words to describe a little girl like Milly? She is about 7 years old and a wonderful little dog. Millie is a cross between a Chihuahua and a Pomeranian - a good, healthy, solid small dog.

Millie has been surrendered due to Family circumstances. Her previous owner has trained her extremely well. She is friendly to everyone; toilet trained; loves going for car rides; walks; sits; stays and is just so willing to please you!

Will cuddle on your lap or beside you on the lounge chair watching TV, or follow you everywhere you go in the house or garden. She gives you every ounce of love she has to give - an absolute darling.

Pappy is off to Canberra to his new home!

Pappy is a gorgeous Chihuahua male about 14 months old. Due to family circumstances Pappy has been surrendered and is now looking for a new home with tonnes of love for him - he retruns thislove a hundred fold!! He is just such a gentle little soul and begs for attention and being picked up and cuddled. He is totally toilet trained. His loving family have done a wonderful job in training Pappy. He will be OK for older children in a family situation.

He just wants to be "with" you; very alert and intelligent.

Bonnie came in with Oscar, but they can be placed separately. Bonnie is definitely a Chihuahua cross Pomeranian - very dainty, tiny little thing. Her coat was very matted, so, thanks to Maria, she has been been clipped and now feels a lot better. She has been desexed, immunized, microchipped etc.

Bonnie is the friendliest little girl and will follow you everywhere. We are seekling a VERY quiet home fo

r her where she will be the only little dog to get all the attention she so rightly deserves. Many thanks for the generous donation from Maria which allowed us to have Bonnie clipped. Bonnie is toilet trained to use an open door or a doggy door.

Does not like birds though - chases them away from her food bowl!

How hard is it to say goodbye to each of these little dogs? We take them in from some

horrible situations - not always, but sometimes.

We handle them; train them; love them; teach them to trust humans; fall in love with them!! Then the natural progress is to re- home them in, what we hope, will be

a permanent loving home.

We said "goodbye" to Bonnie on 2nd December 2010. She caught the doggie bus to Sydney.

Oscar is a pure Pom of statuescue appearance, a very handsome fellow.
Friendly with humans, not suitable for children though. He has been surrendered by an elderly lady so he is now looking for a permanent home. He has been desexed, microchipped, immunized etc. Many thanks to Maria for her very generous donation which allowed us to have Oscar clipped. He is an extremely handsome little fellow - just gorgeous!! Oscar after clipping on right. On the left in his full coat.

Oscar is completely toilet trained to go outside either through an open door or a doggy door. He loves to have a tummy tickle! He is estimated to be about 2 to 3 years of age.

Misty has found a new Mummy

Misty is a two year old Chi crossed with "something", but whatever it is, she is the most gentle loving delightful little dog! Misty has had a pretty hard life being shifted from address to address constantly, watching her "mum" being badly treated; being locked in the bathroom for hours and days on end. Despite all this, or maybe because of it, Misty is ready to offer her whole heart, body, and soul to someone who will love and protect her. She is a bigger "small dog" weighing in at 5 kg.

Misty will be desexed, immunized, microchipped, flea treated, and wormed before she goes to her new home.

He is a little shy when first meeting you but after a cuddle he settles down and just loves to sit quietly on your lap watching TV! He is toilet trained and is well behaved. Tanga is very happy now in her new home.

Tangaranga is a gorgeous little Chihuahua cross weighing in at 3kg. and about 2 years old. She is very well behaved, and quiet - even when people come over! She is a friendly little girl and craves cuddles and attention. Tangaranga was to have been euthanised after she did her time in the pound because she has a dermatitis skin condition, but has been given a second chance.

So here she is - just a lovely little dog. She has had a six weeks course of antibiotics and cortisone treatment for the dermatitis.

Vet check on 1st October and now the hair is beginning to grow again! Her coat has become glossy and healthy. She is one gorgeous little dog!

Happily rehomed and settling in well.
Sometimes we find a darling little dog who needs lots of loving care and attention. Sometimes they are in pain; sometimes their skin is affected by flea bites that have been left untreated; etc. etc.

Well here is our darling little Toby! He is an older little Chihuahua cross, but very small. He has spent his life as a "farm" dog - outside with the working dogs etc. Not the sort of life that these little dogs should have to lead! Despite all this, Toby is a friendly loving little companion. He has been with us for a few weeks now as we have tried to get his skin healed and the horrible itchyness cured. he never complains and always greets us with heaps of loving licky kisses and such adoration in his gorgeous eyes! Toby is now toilet trained; has been immunized, microchipped, and desexed; had flea treatments and been wormed. He still has some irritated skin which is beginning to heal.

Percy is now happily rehomed

Percy is a gorgeous white/cream Chihuahua cross of about 8-9 years. Toilet trained and loves his daily walks. Percy and Missy have been together all their lives so they will not be separated.

They do not like other dogs or cats.

Percy is the more "outgoing" of the two but also very loving and obedient. The minute you sit down they both want to get on your lap! Missy normally gets there first and poor Percy has to let Missy have her way. They are both very loving little dogs.

November 2010. Percy and Missy have finally found a wonderful and happy new home to live out the rest of their lives.

Di has her new camera and I have just downloaded three shots of the terrible twins to send to you. The two of them really settled into the new location immediately and are a bundle of fun. They spend the day roaming the block, chasing our pet magpies and kookaburras who we feed, and generally enjoying themselves. Our block is not flat and they end the day pretty tired.

They are two different personalities for sure. Percy always wants a cuddle and is the more adventurous of the two, always exploring and confident. Missy is more timid and follows him for a while , then is quite happy to lie down on her own, and

enjoy her own company until she hears Percy bark at a bird and she is up and out there to support him in whatever he has got up to. They both get plenty of cuddles and Missy is first in line , but after a few minutes she has had enough and just gets down and lies on a sheepskin rug they have adopted as their day spot. On the other hand Percy will jump up and enjoy getting tickled all day if we had the time.

Strangely, they have bonded first with Di and at 6.30am when I get up, they give me a royal welcome and cuddles on the couch, but then as soon as I open the passage door, they desert me and take off down the hall, fly up onto Di's bed and proceed to tumble all over her. Di loves it if she is getting up but if she is trying for a bit of a sleeping

, I have to keep the door closed . If I lie down on the couch at night I have the pair of them stretched out beside me and they will stay there until we go to bed.

So the progressive report is that we are delighted to have them and spoil them, and the little buggers seem to be very happy here with us.

Missy is now happily rehomed.

Missy is a Chihuahua cross, very small dog, and is very obedient. She is spotlessly toilet trained and likes to go for daily walks. She walks beautifully - no pulling etc. Has spent the last four months with a young family and has learnt to walk the children to school each morning, then pick them up each afternoon (always on a harness!) She has been speyed, microchipped, immunized, wormed, and flead, and we estimate her age to be about 8-9 years. Missy and Percy had one owner for the first few years of their lives but unfortunately this elderly lady passed away. Both Percy and Missy were fretting for their owner for a little while. Their new Family bought them out of their sadness and have given them a new lease on life. They are good with older children. They must be placed together. They do not like other dogs or cats. Missy is one of the softest feeling little dogs I have met for a long time -so very gentle! They would be suitable for an older person who just wants a couple of very small dogs to love and cuddle and give heaps of love in return.

Harley (Harlequin! - his coloring) is a very young little boy of about 2 kg. We estimate his age at 1 year - could be 10 months to 12 months, extremely friendly and playful. He may be a pure Chihuahua but he may also have some mini Foxy in him - very Chihuahua like though - just look at those eyes! He wants to be close to you all the time - very gentle loving little guy.

Harley has been desexed, immunized, heart worm tested, and microchipped, wormed, and given flea treatment. His price is $300 to cover vet fees.

Alice has new parents and here is the wonderful update on our darling little girl!

Mikki is a Chihuahua crossed with Jack Russell. He is a very small, well behaved dog. He appears to be afraid of all other dogs and children. He is a little timid until he gets to know you. So named because he is so small that "He'll be trod on"! Hillby is in care as his owner cannot care for him at the moment. A gorgeous tiny little Chihuahua with spina bifida and also the runt of the litter. These tiny little Chi's do not have a very long life expectancy. Hillby's Dad comes over every now and then to visit Hillby. Last time he came over Hillby got a lovely new "bling" with blue stones on it. He just loves it and his Dad!! He just loves a chicken carcase or a chicken neck to gnaw on!

25/2/2011. Little Hillby has not been really well for a few weeks now - suffering with a persistent diarrhea and despite antibiotics, boiled chicken and rice meals, it would not go away, and Hillby developed a horrible smell. This morning we took him to the vet again! He decided Hillby had several rotten teeth which had to come out, so there and then he got the gas machine and asked me to hold it over Hillby's face so he went under the anaesthetic. He then pulled eight of Hillby's teeth out - ugh!! More gas and Hillby had samples taken of his tummy. It also appears he has no prostate - all part of the spina bifida! He has some sort of a growth in his bowel and that is to be scanned next week when his mouth heals. Yes, we are very worried about this little tiny baby! The lump does not sound good at all. More later.

Goodbye our darling tiny Hil. You fought a good fight to live your whole seven and a half years, mate! Rest in Peace and we will meet you at the Rainbow Bridge.

She has now been handled for three weeks and is settling down really well, but is very "picky" on who she will allow to come near her. She will not be suitable for other animals or children. She would make an elderly person a wonderful loving little companion - but not too many visitors. Yes, she is just gorgeous but she can, and does, nip.

WONDERFUL NEWS!! We believe Petee's owner will come here tomorrow and providing Petee recognises her, Petee will go home where she belongs! We are so happy that another little baby has been saved and will be returned to her rightful owner!

Michael is trying out his new home.

Michael was facing death's row when a good samaritan gave him a chance and he came in to Chi Rescue care. He has been desexed and microchipped etc. From his microchip we have learned that Michael is six and half years old. He has an overshot jaw structure but eats really well. He is friendly and loves cuddles. The history we have been able to find out is that he spent his early years as an "outside" dog and never allowed inside. He was "surrendered" for what reason we do not know. Good Samaritan took him in to her home for several weeks and began his toilet training.

Most of all she showed him what a nice warm bed and warm coat can be like - just loves to lay in front of the heater!!

Michael does not seem to like other dogs or cats, just wants to have all the attention. He has slight patella in both back legs which is not giving him any trouble. He is a very tiny little Chihuahua. Would suit an older person for company and cuddles. His price is $200

Jok has been to our Vet and we believe he is about 8 years of age. He was born with a quite badly deformed mouth and teeth structure which was never corrected. Now we have had several teeth removed which were causing a lot of his problems. He has been desexed, microchipped and immunized.

Jok is a smooth coat pure Chihuahua and is wonderfully toilet trained (hangs on for hours to be let outside!) He is fairly scared still and will now "allow" me to pat him on his head, but he is quite happy to "bury" himself in a snuggle blanket and sleep until you mention "food"!

He is a beautiful little guy and, I would say, sadly neglected and unloved most of his life. He will be looking for a quiet home with plenty of warmth.

Mid July 2010. Jok has now been with us for a few weeks and is allowing more contact and even wants to be picked up and given a cuddle. We are transferring him to "In our Care" page but if a good samaritan would like to give him a home, he will be available.

Jok loves his new bed and snuggly blankets! He did not like the little pink coat though!

Pebbles is a very small smooth coat pure Chihuahua, cream in colour, and about 1 year old. She is looking for a very special quiet home. When Pebbles came in she was in very poor condition weighing about 1kg. She has gained some weight - now 1.5kg and could do with gaining another half kilo or so. Pebbles is learning toilet training - halfway there! She will NOT be suitable with other dogs or cats or young children. She does climb so secure fencing required. She is not suitable to be an outside dog.

A really delightful little puppy of seven months. Scooby will be a long coat Chihuahua when his coat grows. He is a good healthy solid little guy and just wants to play. Barks a little with excitement while playing but otherwise he is quiet. He is well on the way to being toilet trained and loves to be outside when playing. He would be happiest in a family situation with two or three children to play with. He is a gentle little man.

We know that the lady who surrendered Scooby Doo bought him as a "teacup Chihuahua" (a pure furphy to sell puppies!!!) at age 6 weeks (also illegal!!) She paid in the vicinity of $700. He has grown and grown, plus very overweight by about 1 kg. We are thinking he may even be a Chihuahua cross, or a pure, or very badly bred Chihuahua but personality wise he is just wonderful and so far has not made one mistake inside the house!! Just a really delightful little dog.

Scooby Doo developed cherry eye in both eyes and these have both been operated on and they have been stitched back inside. He is having some ointment put into each eye twice daily.

It is a possibility that these may come out again in the future and might need to be operated on again.

Cherry is a 3 year old Chihuahua Cross smooth coat who weighs about 4 .5 kg and is a little overweight.

Cherry has had her teeth cleaned, been desexed, microchipped, immunized, wormed, and flead. She is the most delightful little dog! Not a lot of Chi in her but gorgeous, just the same!

She has a most endearing habit! When you approach her she stands on her hind legs and her little front feet curl under - it looks soooo cute! She is toilet trained and quite obedient.

Just look at this gorgeous little boy! Rebel is a 2 year old pure bred long coat Chihuahua. He is very happy playing with the other Chihuahuas and has really settled in well. He is a little on the larger size, very loving to his human owner. He is toilet trained and has had all his Vet treatments (desex, immunize, microchip etc.) He walks well on harness and is just having his first lessons in obedience. These two gorgeous little dogs have come into rescue due to their owner's passing. The male is white/cream and the female is the rare blue Chihuahua, both possibly a little of something else in them. Both about 8 years of age and cannot be parted as they cling together like glue. Both friendly, quiet, and toilet trained.

These very little dogs are both around the 4.5 kg. Their hearts very strong and steady which is a good sign for an older dog.

Both had very badly sunburnt, or rubbed raw, noses which has now healed beautifully. These little dogs are both desexed, immunized, microchipped, wormed and flead.

Boyiss and Missy have now been with us for three weeks since their Mum died. They were very sad little kids and only just now (3 weeks later) are they beginning to stop mourning and starting to show an interest in life - wagging tails; greeting us; and even wanting to PLAY. It makes your heart feel good when you see them come through like this!!

Gizmo is now trying out his new forever home.

Gizmo is an eleven months old Chihuahua male. He is the most friendly little dog and so happy with the other dogs and with humans. He has been surrendered due to his owners moving into a home where dogs are not allowed. He will be desexed, immunized, microchipped, flead and wormed, and is toilet trained inside the house.

We think that there may be a bit of terrier (mini foxy?) in one of his parents, however he is well behaved and readily accepts commands.

He is one of the larger sized Chis but still within standard range.

We to hear how some of our little dogs have settled in, and this is one that really wa5rms our hearts!! Thank you to Gizmo's new forever family!

Hello Rita and Mayer,

I wanted to give you an update about Gizmo - he's a little gem!

Our old male dog LOVES him and Gizmo has given him a new lease of life, I haven't seen him so happy in a long while and although he is very slow he enjoys rolling around with Gizmo. Our little female Chi cross is less impressed, but coming around and I did catch them sleeping together in a basket so that's all good.

Gizmo has a lovely nature with our daughter, he is very tolerant of her, and he loves being chased by her, especially if he has his new fluffy toy in his mouth.

Gizmo's appetite is good, he sits on command and is learning to sit at the kerbside and wait for cars (on the lead). He also loves the beach and chasing birds. He's not happy with big dogs and rushes up to them barking - I wonder if he had a bad experience with a big dog? Our other chi dislikes big dogs immensely too. Gizmo is very well housetrained.

Gizmo is desperate to sleep in our bed, but has contented himself with sleeping on my coat at the bottom of the bed (he does have his own basket though).

All in all, he's a beaut little dog, he is very loving and I get the feeling he would be VERY protective if he had to be - first thing in the morning he trots around the garden along the fence ready to "have a go" - I think he thinks that our old dogs have been letting the side down a bit and it falls to him to guard our territory.

All in all I wouldn't bring him back for quids!

Cara is a three year old long coat (has been clipped) pure Chihuahua. She has been desexed, immunized, microchipped. She is a real escape artist and gets really pleased with herself when she escapes - just sits and "smiles" at you as if to ask "aren't I a clever girl?"

We watched in horror as she took a flying leap up and over a two foot high puppy fence just after having her operations!! Luckily she did herself no harm. She then jumped on to Mayer's arm chair and "grinned" with pride in herself!! So cheeky. Open the door and she is GONE like a rocket. She is totally toilet trained, can bark a bit on occasion, and just loves attention and cuddles. .

Chokko is lovely friendly cuddly little man of estimated age 6 years.

He has been desexed, microchipped and immunized. He is learning toilet training and is being really good. His is in good health and just craving to have a Mummy or Daddy to love and cuddle him. Chokko has a habit of putting his little nose up in the air and letting fly with a "wolf howl" or that is what he would like it to be!! It is actually a tiny little quiet howl - to be honest we are having trouble containing our laughter!! When he does it we just gently growl at him and he stops.

Millie is a little old gentle loving girl who we estimate to be between 8 and 10 years of age. She is totally toilet trained and obedient. Millie came down from Brisbane after her owner passed. Some wonderful people cared for Millie until they found Chi Rescue. Millie has undergone a scan, an ex-ray, spey operation (note the cotton wool in her ear!) has been immunized and microchipped.

Millie would be most suited for a pensioner who just wants a quiet little dog. It would appear that Millie's liver is quite scarred and we believe this could have been caused by either being run over by a car or similar at some time in the past, or is the result of being fed commercial (cheap) food with too many preservatives in it over a lengthy time. Millie has now been on good home cooked doggy stew and Eukaneuba dried dog food for the past three weeks and is improving every day. Vet expenses have been quite high, however we have received some generous donations to help towards her costs.

Shorty is a very happy little fellow of 12 months old. He is a little shy to start with but warms quickly to humans. He would be perfect for an older person with no other animals.

Shorty has been desexed, microchipped, immunized, heart worm tested (negative), some baby teeth out, flea treatment and wormed.

He is just the most wonderful little dog.

Absolutely no other animals, must be an "only pet"!

Bandit has found a new home. A really gorgeous little boy. Bandit came in from a breeding kennel and was very shy and timid but over the months he has become a very enjoyable little companion. Loves being brushed and no objection to nail clipping! Bandit is nine years old and quite happy to just listen when you talk to him and have a feed every day.

He was not toilet trained when he came in but now knows that "outside" means just that, and he has become very good. He is a quiet little man and does very little barking - only when someone comes to the door! He gets on well with the other little dogs, but would not be suitable for children. He would be very suitable for an elderly person who wants a friend to talk to!

This darling little tiny Chihuahua was surrendered to Chi Rescue about 18 months ago and Vet check suggested she had a cancer. She was one of those most wonderful little girls with never a foot wrong and always so happy to greet you. Quiet and clean, only asking for love, a pat, and some dinner! Our thoughts were "how can we adopt a little dog this old and also with such a horrible disease as cancer?" Well occasionally we get some absolutely wonderful people along who are prepared to go through the joys of giving these little dogs a good and loving home, and then having to go through the pain and grief of losing them after a very short time. Lynda was one of these wonderful people who we admire so much. Lynda gave Penny the happiest few months with so much love and care. The love given kept Penny going for quite a few months longer that would have been expected considering the state of her cancer. We were all told of the signs to watch for in case she was feeling pain, but Penny was happy and relaxed to the very end. Lynda, our very deepest sympathy to you and Virgil at this time. Our hearts and tears ar also falling in sorrow. What a wonderful gift you gave to Penny when she had no where else to go! May God bless you.

Penny is six years old and in very good health. She is still overweight despite losing almost 2 kg so far! Could do with losing another 1/2kg. She will not suit children. She is a very quiet little girl and loves to hide under things (including a doona!). She will require a great deal of patience to get to know her, It has taken several weeks for her to come around to accepting pats and cuddles which she loves. It is no good anyone trying to approach her within hours of meeting her! It will take at least three or four days of gentle quiet talk, loud noises really upset her and she hides. Once she accepts you then she is a perfectly normal little Chihuahua!

This little chubby girl needs a quiet home with maybe one other dog for a friend. She will require patience from her new human Mum, until she gains confidence. Penny has been desexed, immunized, microchipped, wormed and flead.

Happily Rehomed

A lovely little dog of unknown breeding but believed to be crossed Chihuahua weighing in at about 3 kg. Breeding was told to us that he is a Pom cross Chi. Very playful, friendly, obedient, and well behaved, also a bit "cheeky!

His tail has been docked or bitten off at some stage. We have had his luxating patella corrected, desexed, immunized, microchipped, heart worm tested, and health checked. Rusty is one year old.

Yo-yo has gone to a new home where he has settled in as though he owns the place! Sleeps on his new Mummy's bed and follows her everywhere. He loves the green grass in his "park" and his walks every day.

Yo-yo is a two year old pure Chihuahua but a bit on the larger size.

Buddy is so happy in his new home!!
Buddy is the black one at the back. He is 18 months old, very timid and shy to start with but warms and becomes a really cuddly (sooky!) baby after about 24 hours!. Buddy has suffered at the hands of a very nasty neighbor to his previous owners so needs a quiet home as he is frightened by loud noises. Has been spoilt a bit but is quite well behaved, and is toilet trained. He has been desexed, immunized and microchipped, wormed and flead, heartworm tested.

This little man is certainly not a Chihuahua or only a very tiny bit of him, if anything!

He is a small dog of about 5 kg, very fit, active, and playful. He is 2 years old. Would suit an energetic male or female who loves to go for long walks! We have nicknamed Angus the Tassie Tiger because of his extremely unusual colouring! We do not know if it is natural or if someone has bleached his coat! He is very friendly and playful. It seems he may have had some training and is willing to listen and learn. With some more training he would make someone a wonderful little pet and companion.

Angus slept throughout the night last night in a strange bed with no messes or barking or whimpering - in fact he was very quiet and good. His price is $150, and he has been desexed, immunized, microchipped, wormed, flead, and heartworm tested.

Petal has gone to her new home!

Petal has been desexed; teeth have been cleaned, back dew claws have been removed. She is estimated to be about 10 years of age, a very healthy little dog so has quite a long life expectancy. Heart worm tested clear, and healthy heart. Her cost is $100 so possibly very suitable for pensioner who wants a companion dog - very small and well behaved. Photo at left was when she was recovering from one operation. When we took off the bandages these little legs were both infected but all cleared up now. Photo on right is more recent and she looks a lot healthier and happier! She is a wonderful little dog, very small weight about 2 kg.
